hi guys
this will be the reveal of my entry in this sig
i have been building the Meng 1:35 Russian BMPT fire support combat vehicle also called the Terminator
this is a nice kit in my opinion with a good fit of the parts and easy to follow instructions
the only thing i don't like is the fact that the boxart colors are different from the actual colors that this vehicle has
but if you look for a few reference pics you can see why this is
in this scheme the base color wich is duck egg green is looking yellow but i think that is due to the light hitting the vehicle
it is in fact a light greyish green
but that is not a big problem and i decided to just stick to the color call outs for this one

so this should ressemble the BMPT during the 2009 Russian arms expo where it was showed to the public and it showed it's fire power on the testrange
this was also the only time it was shown with the anti mine device attached

so here is my Terminator





















the idea behind this vehicle is that this is a show vehicle during the arms expo
the Russians don't use this vehicle yet and the only real operational BMPT's are in service in Kazachstan at the moment
with this in mind i kept the weathering light and only used washes to highlight details and lots of dust on the running gear and tracks
the rest was kept pretty clean and there even aren't paintchips on it
there is a lt of chipping on the teeth of the mine ploughs because they enter the soil wich is devastating on the paint but that is all the damage there is
also i just noticed in one of the pics i have forgotten to use the mirror stickers so those will be added too
so that is all i have for this build

And the part count isn't all that bad Norm
The tracks make up for about half of the parts but are pretty easy to build with the jigs that are supplied
It took me longer to cut them from the sprues and clean them then to actually build them

Lovely work Mark, camo looks great, and a nice amount of weathering as well.

It was hard to do the weathering though
I am used to WWII German armor and those can be covered in mud, chipping and rust
Non of those apply for this thing but i'm glad you like it

The russians and before that the Sovieta had so really cool camo schemes
There is a tri tone scheme i still want to try with 2 shades of green and white wich should look pretty nice if i can get it right
But that should be a future build i think

But i used the vallejo paints on this
I tried the ammo paints but they don't work for me
I had to strip the paint and start over
I will give the ammo paint a second chance later but i didn't have enough time to do so with this build

The russians have some really nice camo schemes
Most of them are very specific to a region but there are some good ones
I just don't build modern vehicles that much so i don't have that much reference or kits for them
