Our first group build

Post by Paul »

So then any suggestions for our first group build, any particular genre, manufacturer or subject

Please post suggestions below and we will get the ball rolling and sort a start date out

Myself I'm thinking something like superhero's so that would cover figures, vehicles etc

I reckon our GB's should run for at least 3 months each mate, what do you think? Gives people plenty of time to squeeze them in arounf their other builds :)

Erm Lee, if each is 4 months that would be 3 per year.....lol

4 months is good with me, would like to join in but not likely to have the funds for new models for a while yet so the longer each one is the better!

I doubt I'll be taking part in a superhero group build as I don't have one to do.

I'm guessing each build will have it's own thread.

I'll knock up a poll later Paul and let the majority decide :)

As admin we HAVE to participate in every GB as well. That'll make me get off my bum and do different stuff :)

How about as a first GB the topic could just be WW2, or Modern. Just as a first one, that way most people should have something that fits the bill. Subsequent ones could be a bit more specific.

Sure Jim - A group build is where everyone on the forum (who wants to participate) gets together and picks a mutual subject to model. They usually run over a span of time and everyone who's entered posts up their progress (in pictures) as they build the model with a final reveal and showcase at the end. There are usually a specific set of loose rules to say if it's got to be OOB or you can add extras such as PE or decals etc. This GB is only going to be era specific instead of a more localised subject. There's never a rush and we will allow enough time to participate in the GB and do all your usual modelling at the same time.

It's great fun and gets everyone working together towards the same goal and helps to get modellers out of their usual comfort zone and try something else.... :D

Thanks Lee :-) So it can be either all the same model, models from a particular era, could be same type of vehicle and so on. Got it. Seems obvious now. But thanks for explaining. Sounds like a lot of fun. Looking forward to following this; if not building for it; from the start.

Cheers

Ok Guys, here is my idea based on the Theme of my IPMS club's annual contest:

it's called a "day in the zoo"....... crazy idea, I know but let me explain: it could be any genre you want aircraft, armor cars, etc. but it has to be based on an animal!! for example: a p-51 mustang, or a tiger I, or maybe a jaguar....... get the idea?! it could cover all kinds of categories, even figures!!

I don't know, just trowing my two cents in. ( I just hope the guys at my club don't mind me stealing the idea) 8-)

Excellent and when I build my first model for the group build it will end up as a pile of elephant poop so it does not matter what I build, it will fit the category nicely.
Hahaha excuse the humour troops.

Love the idea though - not tied down so much for a first group build so we can all find something I'm sure :-)

Cheers
