Jon's Tamiya 1:48 F-16CJ Block 50 (61098)

Post by jbellos1 »

This one, with Brassin nozzle set, resin seat, and color PE. I'm thinking box decals right now, but that may change.

I've heard and seen a lot of good things with this and other Tamiya F-16 kits, so I am looking forward to a nice tight build. With surface detail like this, it should be one great looking bird!

Multimedia kit oob.

So far? I am very impressed by the level of detail.

And there you have it. 01Jan 16...can't wait!

Update time...the kit is going together flawlessly and pretty quickly too.

Starting with step 1, resin already playing a part.

Image

A bit of white primer and some sanding off of cockpit details for the color PE.

Image

Nicely detailed kit so far.

Image

Resin fan blades look great - but will you see them in the finished model? Probably only with a flashlight if you really need to see it.

Image

Perfect fit.

Image

Here, too!

Image

Cockpit looks good, but I have an issue with the 2D look of the PE. Once it's all wrapped up, I think it will look good.

Image

Awesome detail.

Image

The afterburner can section of the engine - a resin aftermarket part - looks great. I used a combo of Mr. Metal Color Stainless and Dark Iron, with Tamiya X-13 Metallic Blue and X-26 Clear Orange - on the White Tamiya Fine Surface Primer.

Image

Same combo on the engine nozzle

Image

This is the nozzle before the application of the X-26

And afterwards.

Here's how she sits tonight.

Landing gear parts.

Image

Other parts and pieces.

Image

I am going to have to use the kit ejection seat as the resin one does not fit...it's too wide. That's OK as the color PE has some nice add-ons for the seat.

Intake -

And there you have it. And since I will be out-of-town on business beginning tomorrow for around 10-days, this is it for awhile.

To the loo!

Rub-a-dub dub, time for the tub!

Seat first. Decided to use the kit seat instead of the unknown manufacturer resin seat for two reasons. One, it was too wide, and second, I didn't want to sand it down a bit, hoping to use it someplace else.

Anyway, the seat:

Then the instrument panel, what else?

Starting to look like a viper now.

Close to getting some primer down.

Looking like an excellent fit.

Hope you like.
