History

The A110 achieved most of its fame in the early 1970s as a victorious rally car. After winning several rallies in France in the late 1960s with iron-cast R8 Gordini engines the car was fitted with the aluminium-block Renault 16 TS engine. With two dual-chamber Weber 45 carburetors, the TS engine delivered 125 hp (93 kW) DIN at 6,000 rpm. This allowed the production 1600S to reach a top speed of 210 km/h (130 mph). The longer wheelbase 2+2 Alpine GT4, originally considered a version of the A108, was updated with A110 engines and mechanicals, now being marketed as the "A110 GT4".

The car reached international fame during the 1970–1972 seasons when it participated in the newly created International Championship for Manufacturers, winning several events around Europe and being considered one of the strongest rally cars of its time. Notable performances from the car included victory in the 1971 Monte Carlo Rally with Swedish driver Ove Andersson.

With the buy-out of Alpine by Renault complete, the International Championship was replaced by the World Rally Championship for 1973, at which time Renault elected to compete with the A110. With a team featuring Bernard Darniche, Jean-Pierre Nicolas and Jean-Luc Thérier as permanent drivers and "guest stars" like Jean-Claude Andruet (who won the 1973 Monte Carlo Rally) the A110 won most races where the works team was entered, making Alpine the first World Rally Champion. Later competition-spec A110s received engines of up to 1.8 litres.

A GREAT car... you've seriously got to stop or else I'll blow through the rest of my budget for the year on kits. Love these old rally's.

New Update on the alpine
Chassis and Engine

So the last few days I've completed the chassis and engine the fit this time wasn't the greatest but with some clamps it solved the problems

The engine is painted and weathered
Image

Image

Then I mated it to the chassis and installed part of the exhaust
Image

Suspension and brakes are on
Image

Followed by the lower body
Image

Image

Image

the plates are installed too. This parts are a pita to glue on I have to use few heavy duty clamps just to make it stay
Image

Thats where I left it for fews as I'm busy playing Black Ops 3 on the PS4 and followed my dad to get the pc upgraded and now it is all new gaming pc woohoo  cant wait to set up and test my world of tanks and war thunder.

Anyway today I got back to work on it
Here's hows the parts ready for priming and painting
Image

and here is how the renault looked like so far sorry I forgotten to take more photos again got carried away as usual
Image

Image

and now I have to wait for the main colour to arrive in the mail tomorrow afternoon because I realized I don't have the colour to paint the body
I may post another new entry build so stay tuned guys if not do come back to this thread for more updates on the renault :cheers2:

Small update
Body

So the paints arrived yesterday so I quickly ran back to the paint booth and start the body colour. To get that colour I've mixed
Tamiya X-13 and X-2 somewhere around 3:1 ratio and here's the result what do you think??

Many thanks for the support guys well this build has also come to its end already so here is the final updates

Decalling, Polishing, Fine details

After a coat of clear I went and did the decalling
Image
Image

Once it has dried I gave it 2 coats of clear to seal everything. It was followed by polishing. I lost some of the decals in the process because I applied too much force when I was polishing
Image

Image

All was to do is to paint up the small parts i.e the headlights, number plates , bumper and etc
Image

Image

Image

So here is the final result of the build not the best but it looks awesome thank you again for your encouragement and support so far guys :cheers2:

I'll upload a better quality photos tomorrow morning. The photos will be in the final reveal
