Paul's Ducati 916 :)

Post by Paul »

Next bike build and a buddy build along with Timothy Ivatts Tamiya's Ducati 916. This will be an out the box build with some scratch building
Don't know whether to do it as a standard red version or the Senna version shown. I plan to do two of each 1199 and 916 both red and Senna version so I'll get all done eventually.

That's gonna be a nice build, a friend of mine has a 916 Senna, that is currently displayed in a museum in Aberdeen. He also has a 1199 but in the Italian tricolour colour scheme.
On the bench/cupboard are a Yamaha YZR-M1 Estoril, Honda RC213V Repsol, Revell Ferrari 458 Italia, Aoshima Lambo Aventador Roadster, Revell VW Golf....... The list goes on

Bit of progress on the Ducati 916 engine all sprayed up with alclads and extreme metals and the engine covers painted with the zero paints engine green. Found it to be a tad light so added some black to darken it.

The frame was Painted in zero paints Ducati frame bronze and th me rear section in extreme metal aluminium.
Also got the swing arm and components painted up using alclads and extreme metals again and any body parts that needed glueing and filling ready for the body colour.

Lastly any parts I want to carbon were painted as needed :)

It's a simple quick build

Little bit more progress on the 916, got all the engine mounted in the free and the swing arm on.

Also got the rad painted and all the needed carbon fibre decals on.

Ok so i lost my mojo on this one and at one point nearly chucked it, but got the mojo back to finish it and its not far off being finished now, just need to stay the exhaust after carbon filming it last night and cut back and polish the bodywork.

That paint is stunning and your build makes my bikes look like a 5 year old has built them.

That is a stunning build so far Paul :jd: . I am keen on building a bike next after my Tamiya Porsche for GB. If there is time I might include the bike on the Tamiya GB also.

I think I will have to study your bike threads to learn some tips. Love to see a Auto (bike/car) techniques vids some day

keep up the amazing builds Paul :th:
Cheers Gav

On The Bench OK where do I start :wtf:

Some pics of the naked frame of the Tamiya 916 Ducati, a few things i noticed by the pics that need rectifying, a bit of excess wash to take off, the rear valve needs putting back on the wheel lol, a bit of excess paint on the anodised parts on the bars and the rear brake line needs unkinking ;)
Also needs to cut and polish the bodywork and that front wheel arch and its all done :)
Its a very basic kit, with no available aftermarket for it so i added some carbon film here and there and did what i could with the rest, it was a real mojo killer after the excellent ZX-RR ninja build, but I've pulled through and nearly finished it
