Does anyone know the brand of this cutting tool similar to The Chopper but as you can see the cutting blade changes angle not relying on angle devices to be changed. This was purchased in the 80's was sold as wooden model cutting tool. No manufacture stamp on device.


Does this design style exist if not I will just modify the old base to make even more efficient.

I looked at a Chopper at the LHS on Saturday...it was$80!!!!!!

I agree with the pricing as well as to making your own. nothing to difficult in doing so. I am inyterested if this particular design had an quick angle locking design ever made That would be the major task. As I state if it does no longer exist I will make a modified base with many of the options you can find on good quality full scale mitre saws.

it is a ship plank cutter mostly. Called a multi-cutter set from Latina.

Thanks digger.Interesting seeing the design has not changed except for the colour of the measurements. The only real difference is the packaging mine did not come in a blister pack it was in a timber like box with a knife and ruler .

In an other thread on the forum, I've seen a bit more bulky devise very similar to this one called "The Chopper II" made by North West Shore Line.

Can I ask how well does it cut. I believe the chopper tends to leave a slightly rounded edge when cutting as the blade slightly deviates.

I find it cuts extremely cleanly I have not found evidence rounding edges from the blade passing through. The main issue is only cuts through 5mm in a single pass so if the handle is pushed into balsa or styrene that will cause issues from indentations to rounding edge, but no such issue with the blade.
