On tonights build show I started the Engine and fire wall on the Stuka, Its such stunning detail, and its a shame it is pretty much hidden haha, The cowling does not have an option to have it showing or not, So I will detail it and consider leaving the cowling off.

Made some whopping progress tonight. Got the cockpit all assembled ready for primer and paint of RLM66. Still a bit of sanding and rivets to add to the cowling. Decided to not show the engine as you would not see a single spec of it afterwards.

Not an awful lot done tonight, But managed to get the cockpit primed, base coated and dry brushed. Then a little detail painting. chipping and ready for a pin wash. Not perfect but I am happy with it. Still need to do the HGW belts

Ivan, can you make a close up pic off the front off the air intake please. Looks like yours has got something like a lid in it and mine does not.
Want to see what it looks like so I can make one myself

.
Thanks
Peter

Peter there is a small flap that closes the air intake for the super charger. Most pictures I found of it showed it open only a few showed it closed. The trumpeter kit only gives the part in the closed position. So you have no problem with leaving it. Hope that helped

So it would be something to shut off the intake in case off a dusty runway or airfield or something like that.
Mine is going to be "In Flight", so no need for that indeed.
Thanks Tim

Thank you

erm, no not really, I havent built many 1/32 scale, but the only thing I approach different is the amount of time I put into each step, for example, the cockpit I will spend alot more time and effort on as there is alot more room and detail that can be seen. so a short answer is, I just spend more time on making to look as good as I can because its bigger and there is more too see, and more to catch you out

I have a riveter tool on the way, going to be my first time too. What tool did you use? And do you have any tips for riveting?

with all joins checked several times to make sure they are smooth and there are no gaps, all the main parts are ready to go together. I would have to say that the wings required the most work, just because it required filling and sanding 3 times but the end result was worth it. The build is coming along nicely.
Before all the 3 sub assemblies come together I still need to just finish the wing tips because they are a very bad fit and need a tad more filling and sanding, as well as re-scribing and riveting.

all the three main sub assemblies come together, the wings, fuselage, and cowling/engine. Looks horrific at the moment, but after seem checks and sanding, it will be primed black and checked again.

So after some long thinking, I have decided I am not going to be doing the 37mm flak cannons on the stuka. I am going to be going with the Bombs, This was a result of having bad fit and really wanting to arm the hell out of it. Plus a few of the other guys are doing the cannons and I want to use the bomb racks.

Thats what I had decided to do....I closed up the ammo bays....just going with the small bombs. Glad to hear someone else doing the same. The flak cannons do look awesome on the later versions.

Shame about the fitting problems on the guns. Good thing there´s a plan B. Looks very good.

So, I my have been in a bad ish mood last night with the fit but I have ploughed through and made them fit
The metal barrels from master look amazing and I am really glad I got them
Then I got the prop and spinner assembled, they are separate for now so I can paint the blades separate from the spinner.
and it has gotten its legs, the fit is really bad and the sprue glue looks REALLY messy, but it does the job and will be a easy clean up job. The sprue glue looks heavily applied but its just how I have taken the picture

The guns do look good and fitting the wheels does look extreme, But looking at the rest of the build I do have confidence that it is only a temporary thing.
please do not read out of context

Another night of join checking and sanding

Glad I have these awesome Ultimate sanders to make life so much easier,
Also got work done on the flappy things, aileron things. I also got a lot primed, I got very carried away but the aircraft is nearly ready for priming and painting
