1/48 Trumpeter MiG-23BN Flogger H

Post by IanG »

Well everyone, here it is, in all its glory, my completed MiG23BN. Armed to the teeth......a typical Cold War Warrior....old tech, functional and in yer face!!
This build has been a pleasure to do. The overall fit has been very good. The kits biggest issue, the incorrect nose shape, has been dealt with by the addition of the Cold War Studio's correction set. This set is highly recommended if you're going to build this version of the MiG-23.
Decals are the kit ones, but they were very brittle. As some of you may remember, I had some break up completely. With a slight change of plan, I changed scheme, and managed to complete the decals, using extreme care!
Other aftermarket items used are a Quickboost seat, Aerobonus rocket pods, Eduard Brassin OFAB bombs, Eduard PE cockpit set, Plusmodels ladder and an Aerobonus pilot figure. The display base is from Noy's Minatures.
Painting the camouflage was done with Vallejo Model Air, and on the underside I used Akan. Varnishes used are, Alclad's Aqua Gloss, and finished off with Winsor & Newton acrylic matt.
Weathered with a mixture of Flory & Ultimate washes, and Tamiya Weathering Master.
