Airfix 1/48 Seafire XVII

Post by Avgas »

Lovely kit although the wing fold was a bit of a faff due to a lack of any real attachment points. If you're building this kit with the wings folded I can highly recommend doing as I did by fitting the wings after painting, weathering etc. I lightly weathered it as the FAA used to keep their a/c fairly spick and span to try and keep the saltwater corrosion at bay. Finished in Vallejo satin varnish which is a first time for me, it seemed to go on OK. Had a bit of silvering on one or two decals but hey ho. Build thread here

Looks great Dave, I picked up this kit last week and was planning on making it with the wings folded as well. Will have to go back through your thread for any tips and tricks :thumb2:

Great looking Seafire :th: The wing fold was definitely worth the extra work.

Beautiful aircraft. She even looks elegant with wings folded.

Great job, Dave. Clean and classy.
