Scribing Template

Looking for some advice on the templates I've seen some people use when rescribing panel lines. I've looked online and it looks like most places sell a few options - 1 for lines, 1 for curves, 1 for ovals etc. - but I'm struggling to find a "multi-function" template which is useful for a bit of everything. Is there such a thing? I don't want to buy more than one.

Of course none of this matters if they aren't worth using at all, so any advice on that topic would be handy too!

I have a template from Hasegawa, shown here:



I can't say that I have had very good luck with using it. It is very thin. This helps when you are trying to wrap it around a curved surface (like a fuselage), but I had a hard time getting it stable. Even when stable the blade easily slipped over the edge. I think a thick tape might be a better way.

I have used the circles to cut patterns in masking. That works out very well.

Some of my problems may be more operator error than tool, but that is my experience.
