Hi all,
I want to try on a few scratch building items in my models. I mostly do planes in 1:48. Was wondering what size of good lead wire would be a nice start to have. I know 0,2 mm for sure... Seems the one everyone uses for brake lines... So what other diameters would be a good start to get ? Mostly gone try doing brake lines and wires in cockpits and eventually engines.

Re: New to scratch building ; lead wire
The only thing with lead wire is that it is so easily misshapen....it is just so soft. So not good for everything.
This is not bad for smaller jobs https://www.wargamebase.com/collections ... bits-tools
There is all sorts of wire out there and as schweinhund227 says the fishing shop is good. That fishing leader wire makes good tow ropes as well. Just heat it first until it is cherry red then douse with water to soften.

Re: New to scratch building ; lead wire
Awesome suggestions guys, always good to encourage scratch building.
You should also poke around the house for stiff youmight have and also look at your work nd art/craft or beading stores.
There is a wealth of wires and such that can be applied to scratchbuiling for modelling....often stupidly inexpensive vs model specific products.
