Re: 1/48 Revell A-10 Thunderbolt
Great review mate.
Please please dry fit EVERYTHING I had problems with the cockpit tub fitting with the front wheel well fitting correctly the fans didn't go in the engine nacelles correctly so needs filler the engines don't fit properly to the fuselage so there is a gap and on the underside of the wings at the rear when jointing there is a very deep trough that needs filling with all the filler and sanding needed I lost a lot of the detail so I ended up shelveing it until my skill improve to finish it of it really put me off I hope to finish it soon but it's going to take ALOT of work.
Sorry to be on a downer on this kit but I expected better for £20 when I bought it.
Just please Gav take care with it.

No, thanks for the honesty Nige. With some foresight perhaps I can more easily overcome some of the issues. I just out of curiosity test fitted the two fuselage halves and they seem to fit nicely at least. But I am still unsure how to smooth out seams that have raised detail crossing them, as I obviously can't just go at it with a sander.

Not a problem mate the worst bit are the engines the cockpit fitting where it should be and the wheel well fitting in line with the gun had to glue it in small bits. And to get round the seam problems try just scraping it with a knife 1st then sand its what i did and watch out for the fins near the rear underneath the fuselage they are really weak and break easy.Gav0909 wrote:No, thanks for the honesty Nige. Yeah I am thinking that seam cleaning will mostly be a knife scraping job. Because I haven't the foggiest as to how you would replace any lost raised detail! lol.
