Making Cockpit Dash from scratch

Post by Wolfman63 »

Many times some of the lesser detailed kits come with a basic or generic dash for the cockpit. On my J2F Duck build they supplied a piece of plastic and had a decal with 4 circles on it to represent the dash. So I decided to make my own dash. I searched on the internet for a photo of the actual dash. Sized it to the scale then printed it out. I used it as a guide to cut the shape out of a thin sheet of styrene. Then using the photo I made a decal out of it and ended with an more accurate nice looking dash. You can see all the steps at https://davidsscalemodels.com/tips-and- ... m-scratch/

This photo show the kit dash then the scaled photo, the decal, and the final dash.

And here is how it looks in the cockpit.

Some great work here :thumb2:
It is always disappointing when a kit doesn’t live up to the detail required
Excellent scratch work skills
