Non-ISM Winter Hovering SIG Rules

Post by Tomcat64 »

Welcome to the Winter 2019/2020 Non-ISM Hovering SIG “It’s a lot less bovver if it hovers”

Firstly, many thanks to Paul & Lee for allowing us a section on the forum for this non-ISM SIG.

The idea for this SIG is to build any subject in any scale and from any genre as long as it has the capability to hover. Helicopters obviously spring to mind, but the Harrier, F-35B & Yak-38, Apollo Lunar Module & Hovercraft all count as well as things like Thunderbird 2 & the Space 1999 Eagle Transporter from the realms of Science Fiction. If you’ve got a subject in mind but aren’t sure if it qualifies then drop me a PM and I’ll try and figure it out.

If we get more than fifteen finishers then I'll look at providing something suitably hovery as a prize at the end of the SIG if people are interested.

What is a Special Interest Group Build (SiG)?

A special interest group build is where anyone on the forum (who wants to participate) gets together and picks a mutual subject to model, usually targeted at a specific subject or era. It will usually run over an agreed span of time. Everyone who's entered posts up their progress (in pictures) as they build the model with a final reveal and showcase at the end. There are usually a specific set of loose rules to say if it's got to be OOB (Out Of the Box) or you can add extras such as PE (Photo-Etch), after market resin parts or decals etc. There's never a rush and we will allow enough time to participate in the SiG and do all your usual modelling at the same time.

Special interest group builds are great fun and gets a committed few working together towards the same goal and helps to get modellers out of their usual comfort zone and try something else whilst sharing their tips & techniques with the whole community. If you've never entered one before, don't be shy and have a go, we'd love to see your work....
