Time to start another build. This time I'm doing a vanilla TIE Striker. The wife got it for me at the beginning of COVID so I thought I should build it up. Fortunately, I'm getting to be quite busy at work; however, it tends to cut into my modelling time. So this one might be a bit sluggish of a build.
Anywho. The TIE/sk x1 experimental air superiority fighter, also known as the TIE/sk atmospheric fighter or simply the TIE striker, was a streamlined variant of the TIE line starfighters used by the Galactic Empire, most notably during the Battle of Scarif. Specialized for in-atmosphere missions, the atmospheric fighter was identifiable by its horizontal high-speed wings and large central pod. Largely because of its specialization for such missions, it was one of the few TIE models to be used by the Imperial Army as well as the Imperial Navy.
Most notably you'll remember these from Star Wars: Rogue One.
The Sprue cutting and part filing took a long time. It took at least several days for me to complete. Then, it took me a whole modelling session just to get the sprues ready for primer and paint. As they sit now, they've been primed and I plan to hopefully paint the parts tomorrow. Once those are dry, I think the assembly should go pretty smoothly.
Bandai needs to come out with some new TIE kits. I think the only one I haven't done up until this point is the TIE Advanced. I would do some rather silly things for Bandai to come out with a TIE Bomber or TIE Phantom. Also, a TIE Defender, Imperial Gunboat and Lambda Shuttle would we so much fun to build. The other kit I'd like to see come back into stock is the AT-AT. I have an after market LED lighting kit for one (my order of the AT-AT itself was cancelled) that I'd love to build up.
