New Color Tool Feature

Post by bfrd »

I made a small update to the Color Tool in the Modeller Toolkit. If you are unfamiliar with the toolkit it is located on the main forum toolbar.

Image

There are a few different tools, but this update is only for the Color Tool.

Image

When you launch the tool, the "Source" range has a new option for "Custom".

Image

When you select this option you will be able to pick any color in the RGB spectrum and find a near match. In the example below I picked a purple color and selected Vallejo Game Air as one of my actual paint ranges.

Image

When I click on "Choose" the nearest matches to that color are shown.

Image

I can click on each color swatch to pick the one I like the best and the paint details will be shown.

The second feature that I added is the ability to remove a match you don't want to keep. Just click on the little red "X" and the match will go away.

Image

I also made the reference box a bit bigger.

I tell you what would be really unique as far as modelers color tools go. Is the ability to photograph a color and then the tool gives all the close alternatives plus the exact mix of colors required to get a exact match.
YEAH I know I'm dreaming and it's beyond the capabilities of a simple tool and probably needs to be a stand alone program.....would be cool though.
