New modeller UK based

Post by GlosterJav »

Hi! In my mid 30s decided to take up a hobby thats a little more hands on and creative... anything to get me away from screens for a few hours!

I used to build airfix badly in my very early years (With huge help from my Dad)

Im hoping as an adult with a bit more patience time and money i can learn how to build some nice looking stuff.

So far I have a couple of kits the standard Spitfire Mk2A and a F4U-4 Corsair (which will be my 2nd or maybe even later build due to increased complexity)

Getting all of the kit together including paints and washes as intend to learn by doing :D

I will post up some pics of my 1st build once my deliveries come in .. be kind

Hello and :welcome: to the ISM forum.

When you get a moment please check out the forum guidelines which can be found ---> here

We'd love to see your work & progress but in order to post photos you will need to host them on an external site such as Flickr and then link to them from the forum. Unfortunately the forum currently doesn't have sufficient capacity or bandwidth to host directly uploaded photos.

There is a quick guide on how to use the Flickr integration on the forum ---> here

As well as the forum boards there is a really useful Modeller Toolkit available which can help with paint matching, paint thinning, glue types & a scale calculator that can be found ---> here

We also run a number of group builds & special interest groups through the year so feel free to enter any of those that you like the look of.

Otherwise take a look around and join in, and if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Have fun!
Cheers, Neil

Learning by doing repeats a few mistakes we have all made , but I find it's easier to learn by doing than watching.
However Welcome :welcome: to the forum I hope to enjoy your company in the future.
