Build #2 Ju-87B Stuka

I figured since Neil is gonna do multiple builds...
I have had this kit in the stash for a while. Its one of the very few Axis anything I will build. Not a big fan of that, but this plane is just so interesting, even though it was outclassed almost immediately and pretty much a sitting duck.
Anyway, the markings are cool and I rather like the approach 21st Century took with the parts. No trees, just in sealed plastic.
I dry fitted most of the cockpit. Fit is good and all that. Now to see what the interior colors ought to be.

OK, got some work done on this.
First. While the whole idea of parts bagged like this is kinda neat, it doesnt work well. No parts numbers. You gotta match parts to the instruction pics. Not difficult, but a pain.
Second. The directions have been wrong in a couple spots and just plain not showing one part placement.
Otherwise, not a bad kit. Fit s OK. Gonna have to do some seam work, but not awful.

Very good strat for this "big" scale, have fun (nevertheless) with this kit!

So, they would have you screw together the wings and the fuselage halves. Whatever. I glued them. BUT, that leaves the holes to put the screws in. They provide caps, but they are NOT adequate. So, putty and sanding that is totally not necessary. *sigh*

Thats an interesting looking kit. Definitely an unusual idea in having bags of parts, not sprues. And in having parts screw together! Only ever seen that in the likes of Aoshima kits with things like battery boxes.
The need for filler is truly a PITA - but it looks good even so.
Well done.
A question - box art shows the Hakenkreuz on the tail but not on the decal sheet. There are the 4 component parts of what looks like a single one dotted all over the sheet which is a good way of getting around certain countries bans on selling that symbol. I'm guessing you won't be using them but how do the instructions tell you to make 2 complete ones out of them??

Oh, I absolutely will use them. I don't play that PC stuff. It's history. I don't believe in white washing it.
That being said, I have to figure that out. LOL I got the kit used and it has printed directions. I don't know if they originally gave guidance or not.

And of course I immediately started really looking at them. Two of those parts make one. I'll lay it out when I get to that step.

OK, got the holes all filled and sanded and the canopies masked. Underside sprayed with white primer. Top side with semi gloss black because I ran out of flat black and didnt realize it. LOL I can do a little more with the underside fill spots, but the side ones seem to be pretty damn good.

That issue with the tail plane decal was bugging me so, being an engineer, I sat and played with bits of paper. I think this is the solution:
Overlapping the centre corner seems to be the answer.....

OK. I ordered the Humbrol paints in the RLM colors for this. The only one that I have issue with is the RLM78. It is NOT a blue of any sort. And no, it doesnt magically change when it dries like some on FB tried to suggest it might. So I broke down and ordered a bottle of acrylic RLM65, the other blue that was used and is called out in some sources. In the meantime, I sprayed the lighter green on. A little more seam work and I will be doing the black green. I m full on painting the two green splinter camo that had the brown painted over.
Thats what it looks like
Thats what its supposed to be.

Well, I got the Mr Color RLM 65. I may have said before, I detest acrylics, but I had no choice. At least it is solvent based and might actually bite in and not lift when masked. Hard to tell in the pic, but this one IS blue.

Thank you gentlemen. Go ahead, build yours! LOL
So, I got the tan on. Then discovered I had managed to lose the struts for the stabs. Great. So I went ahead and made some. Not great, but they will work I guess. And left side decals on.
Finish up the decals, some dull coat, and attach wheels and bombs and such and do the rear gun and should be done.

Oh, and I cheated with the swastikas. I happened to have a sheet of them so I found the correct size and style to match the kit decals and used those. Easier than trying to match up the two parts.

The sirens were removed after the early stages of the war because they affected aircraft speed way too much.

Good cause I think they are part of the legend and that's what everyone thinks of is the scream of that sucker.
