Grim Grimy Mig (GWH Mig-29 SMT, 1/48)

Post by Steve64 »

Hi fellow modellers,

After six months of work, here is the result of persevering with Great Wall Hobby's Mig-29 SMT. The kit has lovely detail but the fit isn't always good. I had big problems attaching the engine nacelles to the fuselage and aligning them with the landing gear bays.

There are good pictures online of these aircraft looking dirty so - being a fan of weathering - that's the look I went for. A combination of pre-shading and oils got me to the point where the weathering seemed authentic. Anyhow don't take my word have a look for yourself.

Happy modelling folks.

Fantastic, weathering really adds a lot to the belief your looking at a real aircraft.

Beautiful restrained finish, looks faded and dirty, perfect
Its been tried and tested, it works! So don't blame the system if you're no good.
