Kitty Hawk 1/48 Jaguar GR3

Post by Ads24 »

Hi Guys, The Kitty Hawk Jaguar was a model I completed about a month ago, but have only just got round to uploading some pictures. I love the Jaguar and was really impressed with Kitty Hawk, so much so thier Jas-39A/C Gripen is on my wish list.

Adam, that looks stunning, really impressive. The camo and weathering is spot on, can't wait to see the MIG based on the skill shown here.

Now there is a model that I want on my list. I do love the Jaguar. Think I would have to do it either in grey or the green/grey camo scheme.

Looks cracking, nice job with the panels and the weathering is really nice on this as well.

Thanks :)

There are a few really nice schemes for it, the green/grey looks really good, but I thought I'd go for the Arctic camo as something a bit different.

Wow, thanks for the coments, guys, you're really kind. This was actually the first model I painted with an airbrush after resisting the expense for far too long. I've only got a fairly cheap setup, but possibly my best buy. Ever!

Pressure is on with the MiG, then! Unfortunately I think I may have got the colours wrong on it, so you might have to forgive that. It's the only fault with an otherwise amazing kit, they don't detail what I think should be the green on the camo pattern. I used Vallejo's Russian Green, which I think looks ok, but maybe not too acurate.

Very nice work mate, very nice indeed...

Couple points tho,we (the RAF) don't use that type of LGB & the seat pan firing handle is yellow/black stripe not red & the Jag never carried SNEB's.

Nice job! might be on my wish list

You also bought the mig 25? hope you did not had too much troubles cause i've heard and seen on other forums that the fits are execrable.

It's true that KH is till a "young" trade and can still improve but when you see the price it might be a bit repellant to think I've got to pay this...to have THAT and have lots of adjustement work to do on it.

Okay we're all modellers and a kit without work is not a enjoyable kit but when I saw the pictures of a guy building the kit, it was really weird to see all the gaps he had to fill...on the other hand, as he has to put lots of filler and mastic on the cockpit...he's sure she won't be a tail sitter

See you

Yeah, I've now built three Kitty Hawk kits, the Jaguar, MiG 25 and Saab JAS 37 and I have enjoyed them, but you're right, they certainly don't fall together and do take a lot of work. The MiG is probably my favourite, as despite being expensive, over £50 here in the UK, it's huge in1/48th scale!

I think I'd say, if you like the subject, they're worth the effort.

Having said this, their new F-101 Voodoo is supposed to be so bad, I've given it a miss!

Hi Adam. Loving the Jag, a model to be proud of. I had a stab at the old Airfix 1/48 Jag a few years ago but it beat me in the end and is now used as a paint/weathering test bed.

The Foxbat is a beauty too btw.
