Messerschmitt Bf 109E-3 Airfix 1:72 (A55106)

Messerschmitt Bf 109E-3
Obt. Werner Pichon-Kalou von Hafe, III./JG 51, France, 1940
Airfix 1:72 (A55106)

2013#22

I bought some Humbrol Acrylic thinners the other month as I have numerous pots of starter/gift set acrylics which I never use as I don't seem to be able to get an even finish with them.

As a test bed I opened a couple of starter sets I got at Home Bargins and these are the results.

So this was brush painted using the paint guides in the kits although I did mix HU93,Hu33,Hu11 for the exhausts. I'm quite impressed with the results considering I've avoided these little pots like the plaque until now. Am I a convert, no, I think I still prefer enamels to paint brush with but am not averse to using the acrylics more now.

A great kit, this is the starter set version, the normal kit with full decal and painting instructions should be a blast.

Really nice work.

If you want to brush acrylics, try Vallejo Model colour, lovely paints.
