Airfix 1/72 Supermarine Spitfire Mk.1a

Post by Thumboy »

As I am new to the hobby I thought you cant go far wrong with an Airfix Spitfire, and I was right. I know my opinion wont count for much as I have done less than 10 models but this kit is superb. The perfect amount of detail and parts for a beginner to make a model to treasure. I made this model while reading and following the build in 'The Airfix Book of Scale Modelling' which I got from the library. I know the more advanced of you will probably scoff but for a beginner this book invaluable, lots of history of the hobby and hints and tips on every aspect.'

the kit is airbrush painted in Tamiya acrylics. XF 21 on the underside which I mixed about 50/50 with flat white until I was happy. The top side is XF81 and XF52. The weathering is done with oil paints and Tamiya weathering master.

Thanks for looking
