Well it's past midnight so I can start! Here's my entry.....

Well, I did have a box pic in photobucket but it seems to have vanished! Anyway, here's the sprues in the bag.
Image

Just two sprues in this kit! Looks like nice details, no flash, but that counts for nothing til you start putting it together, lol!
Image

Destructions are ok, sprue map, and photos. Would be better if the pics were in colour though!
Image

Clear parts, photo etch and decals. Might have to use that sharks mouth, right or wrong, it'll look cool!
Image

And the big finale... Resin cockpit and various vacform canopies! All included as standard, for about £17! If it goes together alright it'll be good value, considering a new airfix lightning in 1/72 has a rrp of £15 with no extras!
Image

Really looking forward to this sig, there's some really cool looking kits already! Good luck everyone :cheers2: :th: :th: :thumb1:

Right, first real update...

Got the cockpit done, went together ok. A bit of trial and error, but got there in the end. The side walls needed to be shortened, as did one of the bulkheads.

Pics are from iPhone so don't look very nice! Lol!

There's some lovely detail in there, shame it doesn't show in the pics. Also the weathering isn't quite as harsh as it looks here!! :bash:

That's it for now, cheers guys! :cheers2:

Hey guys, new update here. Firstly, thanks for your comments :thumb2:
Lots done but not many pics, sorry!

Added a few details to the wheel wells, not strictly accurate but adds interest...

Image

Hard to see in this pic, but dry fitting showed that the wells needed a lot of sanding down to fit between the wing halves...

Image

The prop blades don't have locating tabs so I drilled them out and added brass tube for strength...

Image

Primed and masked for paint...

Image

Started with a base of very dark grey, then masked off panels to spray with different grey tones...

Image

All done...

Image

Clear coat for decals...

Image

Decals on, and some oils to start blending those panels together...

Image

And that's where we are at the mo. Thanks for checking in, :cheers2: :th: :th: :th:

Nice work chief the defiant is looking great :thumb1: one of the great things about 1/72 is that they come together so quickly. I am almost at the decal stage (should really do an update)

Looking forward to see how the blobs of oil paint come out, I haven't tried that method before. do you just streak them backwards with odourless thinners? :cheers2:

Cheers dude, yes, just like you would on armour, but in the direction of airflow. If you don't like it, it can just be wiped off with more thinner.

Hey guys, final update ready!

Undercarriage fitted, quite complex for 1/72, 7 parts each side! I also added some brake hoses from wire.

Image

I cut some chunks out of the wings to make landing lights from a PE disc

Image

And that's when I forgot to take any more pics! All I did after was try to make the turret look ok. It's a terrible piece of plastic and even worse fit!

Anyway, all done now so I'll put the rest up in the reveal section.

Thanks for looking in! :th: :th: :cheers2:
