I just can't help myself..

Post by Donkeywalloper »

I'm skint, totally borasic.
But I just can't help it....
Just bought £30 worth of kit from www.scalemodelshop.co.uk.
4 Synthetic Flat Brush - AK Interactive
Abteilung Flat Brush 1 - Mig Productions
30ml Mr White Putty - Mr Hobby
40ml Mr Cement S - Mr Hobby
XF-59 Desert Yellow - Tamiya
XF-57 Buff - Tamiya
17ml Black Grey (168) 70.862 - Vallejo Model Color
VAL862
85ml Brush Restorer 28.890 - Vallejo
XF-60 Dark Yellow - Tamiya
Thing is, my birthday is at the end of the month and I'm going to buy a H&S AB and Compressor and all the kit.
I should wait shouldn't I? I really should wait........................
It's like a drug addiction. I could never walk around a Model Show with a Credit Card in my pocket, I'd be absolutly bankrupt.
What's it like for you chaps? Even if you don't really need it do you buy it.
It is a compulsion....... :bash: :bash: :bash:

Heheheheheh, the wives don't understand. Except my ammuniton is she suggested my return to this art to releive stress. Now when Credit Card bill comes in and I see her face start to go red, I can hit back with "But love, its for my medication" lol.
All my purchase so far have been on-line.
If I go into a well stocked shop, I'm truly buggered :pistols:

It is an addiction; every time I'm in the area of the city that the modeling store is located, whether alone or with my missus, I have to drop in and look at everything. I might spend an hour in there just looking at everything that I've looked at a hundred times before, but it's soothing....then, I feel that it's rude not to purchase something and leave empty handed, well, that's my excuse. The truth is....I'd have an anxiety attack if I didn't leave with something to drool over until the next fix!

Cheers,
Martin

Yep. Get all the news from Hannants weekly email and the modelling press. Don't get to many shows as I tend to work over the weekends. But, if it's new and shiny, then I want it.

Sat down this evening with package from www.scalemodelshop.co.uk and it's like Christmas.
I'm in the Midlands so any ideas on next show or exhibition in area?

They do a show in Hinckley (or they did) usually round March time though probably done. Check magazines for upcoming. Next ones are Milton Keynes this Sunday and one in Gloucester on 11th. Hope this helps.

When I tell my wife, "I'm going to go check the mail," her first question is, "Did you order something?"

Last week, I went to Hobby Lobby and picked up a Tamiya Panzer 2, even though I have no room to put it anywhere (it's for a future project, anyways).

And for my birthday coming up soon, I've been dropping subtle hints about Meng's new welded turret FT-17, because although I have 20+ kits already waiting to be built, (most of which are tanks), I don't have a French tank to add to the collection.

Sure, it's an addiction, but it's a satisfying one!

Thanks Willem for heads up :th:
Trek the wives are on our side....aren't they? Mine knows, well she did encourage me.
She rolls her eyes and lets me get on as it keeps me happy.
The only thing she does get miffed at is the cuts from knifes (rare but got myself this morning trimming a 1/48 Ammo Tin to fit into PE 50Cal Ammo tin holder)

Funny how the kid comes out of all of us when it comes to this hobby. I have so many kits and tools on wish lists all over the web that I don't remember what I have on which web site. Like a squirrel trying to remember where he stored all of his stash. On Amazon alone I have 20 or 30 kits in "Saved For Later".

It,s so true Larry.
I have Wishlists and notes and my Red Book that has lists of Modelling jobs and things to buy, and yet......
I still have doubles and triple buys and stuff that I need and still haven't got.

This is me exactly, I now sneak out the garage to get mail. I don't want my wife to know I've relapsed, thats for the postman and I to know only.

I feel better knowing i`m not alone in this sickness.

I`m just a kit and tool tart !!!

18 deliveries this month - some are less than a pound but its not the point.

Next on the list is some PE tools... hold n fold...sweating hands, building excitement....

So basically, I think we can all agree that this keeps us happy and off the street causing trouble and playing hooky.......oh hang on, I'm 49......... :nena:
It was funny on Tuesday as I was in Man-Cave AB'ing happily, when the wife appears with three packages, all small but none the less definitely "Model orientated".
She just rolled her eyes and smiled and left.
I don't have to justify my spending on my hobby do I?
We all know it works in our favour and against when the time comes :th:
