1/72 Academy Spitfire MK.XIVc

Post by eoinfinnegan »

Hi all,
I finished this last weekend but im only getting a chance to post it up now. This is a cracking kit, there is no flash on any parts except for some very faint seam lines that are sorted witha rub of sand paper or sticks, the detail in the cock pit is excellent for the scale and the panel lines and rivet details look great, the only big let down is like with most Academy kits is the awful decals which need acid to help them settle down...I knew I should of gone for that after-market set from Extra Decals :wall:

I build it straight out of the box except for a tiny bit of lead wire in the cockpit
The paints used for the externals where Tamiya XF-81 dark green, XF-82 ocean grey, XF-19 sky grey and XF-3 yellow, For the fuselage band I used Revell Aqua 59 sky which due to not reading the painting guild was wrong :wall: it should of been white, I just left it as is mainly because im lazy  The props where sprayed with XF-69 nato black anf XF-2 white for the cone, all the chipping was painted with Citadel runefang steel

Nice one Eoin. I built this for my step son a few years ago and really enjoyed it. I keep meaning to get another for myself. Well done. :th:

Really nice finish, I'm liking the weathering, wear and tear look - it sure makes the Spitfire look like it's been in the wars! I may have to take a look at an Academy kit sometime.

Excellent job, Eoin! The camo colors look spot on and nicely weathered and worn, too! :thumb1: :thumb1:

Cheers, :cheers2:
