Luxurious full colour instructions! :wtf:

I'll will start assembling it ASAP. I don't know if I'll make a diorama out of it with figures  , by now I'll just keep working with this model.

There are two dangerous cats on your bench. One of them is known to eat bits of Bren gun carrier.

All the best with the build.

“Dangerous Cat” SIG Update 1

Doesn’t look so dangerous

Image

I started pruning wheels, so exciting, yay.

Image

Well… I finished

Image

I sanded tyres one by one to get this used look

Image

Once finished I attacked the lower hull.

Image

No torsion bars. Suspension can be modified but I’ll let it rest on a flat position; I won’t be doing a diorama. I’ll build this kit straight from the box without any further enhancements.

Image

Since there are no additions I want to focus interest on the camo pattern. However, there is an issue… Dragon’s suggestions for this particular panther in Italy are a little bit dull

Image

I looked for more samples in the Italian scenario but I found the same zimmerit in dark yellow. Dragon’s suggestion is indeed realistic but I tried to find something more interesting.
Image

I like the Italian idea of this kit and I’ve done some research. I saw this Italian pattern in Vallejo Panzer Aces

Image

Apparently, Italians and Germans alike used this pattern on their uniforms; I’ve seen this pattern on some vehicles too, so I’ll take the liberty to use this camo on my dangerous cat. Maybe I’m committing a mistake (or a rivet-counting selfie?), anyway, feel free to object and tell me. Your comments are greatly appreciated, so thanks in advance.

"The Dangerous Cat" SiG. Panther A Early type. Update 2

I was quite busy with Coen's Kursk Group Built, but I finally finished the project. So, I went on building the cat; one of the first things I did was drilling a pair of holes in these exhausts

Image

I added all the details on the upper hull

Image

Finished the turret...

Image

Image

polished seams on the barrel...

Image

and prepared wheels for priming and painting

Image

I had to add some putty when I joined the upper and lower hulls, but everything was nice and easy. Now the kit is sitting on the bench waiting for priming and painting

Image

Image

Image

Image

See you on the next update :cheers2:

"Dangerous Cat" Panther A Early Type. Update 3

The cat is showing off its brand new Italian setting camo. As soon as tools, tracks and decals are ready, the whole feline thing is going to be properly weathered.

I primed the whole lot with Vallejo black primer

Image

Then I airbrushed all the elements with armour green.

Image

Image

Image

That's how it looked

Image

I painted organic stripes with flat earth + red+ burnt umber acrylics (steady hand needed)

Image

Image

Image

Then I painted scattered yellowish growths using middle stone+ burnt umber. The presence of burnt umber in all these combinations favours colour cohesion.

Image

Image

As an afterthought I decided to add grilles on top of those vents

Image

So I took measures and destroyed a nice colander

Image

Image

Grilly smile

Image

I glued these grilles with superglue

Image

So this is the result

Image

The grilles were also painted, of course!

Image

Finally, I painted the wheels too

Image

...and that's it. I left tools, exhaust, decals and weathering for the last update

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Thanks for watching! :cheers2:

Thanks for your kind words Mark :D This camo is the Italian pattern used both by Italians and Germans in Italy. It was surely used on some German uniforms. However, the panther license is just a possibility... :cheers2:

"Dangerous Cat" Panther A Early Type. Update 4 "The Stalking Kitty"

That's were we left it. The cat was in need of a pair of tracks

Image

So, I undertook this funny task...

Image

I adapted the tracks to the wheels and let them dry

Image

Meanwhile I painted the tools

Image

I removed the tracks and primed them with black primer

Image

Then I paited them with mahagony acrylics

Image

Image

Finally I drybrushed the tracks with gun metal and black acrylics

Image

I adapted the tracks again and glued the extreme links in place

Image

So, this is the result, I added the spare tracks too

Image

I applied matte varnish and started weathering the cat with an oil dot filter (red, white, and light brown)

Image

I applied downstrokes with white spirit and this is the result

Image

After another layer of matt varnish I also added random chipping with gun metal + black

Image

I also added some rust streaks from AK

Image

and toned them down with white spirit

Image

I added some rust on top of those chippings and the exhausts with vallejo red pigments and AK pigment fixer

Image

Some burnt umber was both added on the barrel and the exhausts along with European earth on wheels and tracks.

Image

Image

I also fixed some dry mud on top of the European earth plus some oil stains. The cat is slightly dirty, I didn't want it too muddy.

Image

I didn't like the red flashy numbers, but I had to use them because they belong to the Italian campaign. Thus, I decided to cover them with additional camo, turning my cat into a real stalking kitty...
