Chiefs Airfix 1/72 Folland Gnat

Post by chief5437 »

First of what could be many shelf of doom entries!

Image

However, didn't get far! Paint went all crazy on me, so set it aside to dry out before I try again.:

I'll be back! :pistols:

Is that Dayglo? May be Humbrol 209? , if so It is very translucent and I found it works better using a closer shade of a more solid colour rather directly over primer.

This is Hu209 brushed over Hu82.

Best of luck anyway.

Cheers dude! It's Revell orange 30. My first go at airbrushing them. Think I got the mix wrong! Managed to get a better finish in the end. I hope mine turns out half as good as yours, looks great!

Next instalment! Another (better mixed!) coat of orange, seems to have done the trick.

Image

Then masked off the orange parts. Added another coat of primer.

I used alclad for the aluminium, not sure what's happened to it, it's quite old, but it just kept clogging the airbrush, and left a crappy finish.

Image

I'm hoping it'll buff out, lol!

That's all for now, see you next time  :th: :th:

Hi guys, calling this done now. Tried buffing the shitty paint job, but it didn't quite work! Also, lost one of the front wheels to the carpet monster

And the wash made it look really dirty, couldn't get it out 'cos of the rough alclad! Oh well, another one for file 13!
