Hobby Boss 1/72 Bell AH-1S Cobra

Post by LudvigN »

Neat little kit this. I finished it within 10 days and I certainly didnt rush it. The assembly was fairly straightforward. No real fit issues, however, the instructions tells you to attach the rotor shaft on both the main rotor and the tail rotor when you join the fuselages. The reason for this because they want moving parts. I was afraid that i would break these parts if I did it so I waited and glued them to place later when the weathering was finished. To my great disappointment, some light dust found its way to the canopy. I discovered this when I removed the masks. Really bothers me because I really tried to get it clean before I sealed it.

Was the first time I free handed the camo and im very pleased with the result considering I used the humble hair-brush.

Another issue is the nose weight. It really needs a bit of weight and the instruction doesnt mention it at all.

Work in progress-thread

+ Fast assembly
+ No fit issues
+ Unusual painting schemes
+ Clear canopy
+ Cheap
+ Good surface detail

- No paint call outs for armaments
- Its a tail sitter but the instructions doesnt mention nose weight
- Inconvenient decal sheet layout, easy to miss decals

Recomendation: A nice, easy and fast little kit.
