I haven't seen a helicopter build before, this will be fun to watch.
Interesting that you removed the rear doors. That looked like a tricky cut.
What did you do it with?

Tonygol,

Do you have a plan for this build; cutting out cargo doors? What will happen here, scratch, after market extras or both? Is there any particular reason for choosing this build/kit?

hope you enjoy the build/kit,

I cut the rear cargo doors with a standard scalpel. Slow cuts a few times before sanding to clean edges up. I have the Zvezda kit too but the HobbyBoss has better internal detail. The rear doors were removed to be like the original helicopter. The only scratch-building on this project will be a large tyre and wheel.

Wow... That looks like a hell of a lot of fun to build.
Lots of really cool bits.
It's going to be a bugger to paint though I think.

Build wise its like a Tamiya. The kit isn't totally correct, the engine inlets are wrong but Pavla do a correction set. Rear landing gear also has a correction set depending which Mk you build.

The kit is better than the Zvezda one. The HB one has better internal details.

It was a couple of nights ago that I realized I built it wrong, has put me on a little downer as the finished kit wont be like the photo I am using.

All masked up, some filler needed in a few places then the first prime to go on.

Cheers guys. Its not on the "The Shelf of Doom" yet. Got a bit carried away building a P-51. It has helped me re-focus on the Mi-8. Sorting out some of the paint as HB have missed some out. Cybermodeler reference section has helped loads.

Great progress Tony. I do like Russian Helicopters. Rough and ready and built to last. Looking forward to more of your WIP.

One thing though. I noticed on the box art that I bet that soldier wished he hadn't jumped out when he did. Looks a long way down for that little chap.

Easy mate
