I agree with you. I clearly just keep buying them. But let me take the one for the team. This is worth...$45 I'd think.DougC wrote:Another great review Adam. IMHO Dragon is moving into the unaffordable range with their kits. $75 on Sprue Bros and no metal barrel, very little pe, and crappy DS tracks. The tool clasp thing is another easily fixable issue as you point out. Won't be getting my money for it.
Thanks OD, i'm working on painting that thing but i have garbage airbrushes and garbage airbrush skills that are keeping part 2 from progressing. I could have screamed today. I need to apprentice with someone that knows how to maintain an airbrush. It's weird how fast and comfortable i am with building and absolute rubbish i am at caring for an airbrush...OliveDrab wrote:Thanks for posting Adam, enjoyed your vid of the orange box early Tiger build also
I used to have the same problem Adam, got me an airbrush reamer and it is a great tool, plus I now soak the AB in a basin of hot water and keep the trigger pulled after my spraying ( always acrylics mind ) and I seem to have finally got it, the problem that I found was that the paint dried in the nozzle quite quickly so I tend to have a thinner soaked piece of tissue paper that I dab on the nozzle every few mins !mannloon wrote:Thanks OD, i'm working on painting that thing but i have garbage airbrushes and garbage airbrush skills that are keeping part 2 from progressing. No they're hollow and only mildly bent, not a loss by any means. With the direction my obsession with the Tiger has gone I guess what i should have said was I will replace them. I seem to be more driven by the idea that it's an accurate replica than a base for a story driven piece which I know is more common. So I've started replacing all my tracks with indie links, i just like them better. If you can make Ds work these will be fine. I've been selling all of my Ds tracks.Coen wrote:Just a quick question Adam, you mention near the end of the vid that you need to replace the tracks in the dragon offering, so I went back to see where you examine them in the video. I didn't see anything other than the flash you mention, but I couldn't tell for sure if the guide teeth were hollow... it that what you meant?
Other than that looks to be a marvellous kit. Just bought it based on your review in fact.
"Heidi" was a slightly different Tiger; its tow cables were laid out with their ends to the front, and they were the larger size of cable. Dragon's kit 6608 does not cover "Heidi" for that reason.cib2265 wrote: I've just bought one from HLJ, and will build the "Heidi" version, since that's my wifes name!

Thanks David - surely I can just move the tow cables around and use different size cable?DByrden wrote:"Heidi" was a slightly different Tiger; its tow cables were laid out with their ends to the front, and they were the larger size of cable. This is "Heidi" and Dragon are planning to cover it with the next Tiger kit.

Thanks DavidDByrden wrote:Hi, and sorry about the delay. I don't visit this website often.
Yes, you'd need to move all the cable holding clips and source a thicker cable with larger end pieces - the standard cable that was used on most Tigers.
This is a great photo of the cable layout for "Heidi". The cable ends are up front, with the outer one ahead of the inner - that was changed later.
Of course, you'd need the "Heidi" decals too...they should appear in Dragon's next Tiger before very long, so you might get them from somebody.
