Hi All,

In tooling up the new mancave for my modeling I'm looking for a fan patern airbrush. My pockets aren't deep enough and I'm not willing to fork over 4 or 500 euro that wil only be used for priming, base and clear coating. I had me a little search on google and found an option that will work with the current compressor I have.

I'm looking into the Sparmax GP-825, unfortunately I cant find any (online) retailer that sells them. So i'm starting to wonder whats out there on the market at an affordable no thrills level.

That exactly why I started this thread, can't seem to find any air consumption figures for this airbrush. Have also contacted some of the retailers above as wel as the manufacturer them self but stil waiting on a reply from all of the above on this.

Would be shame to have a new tool that can't be used due to air supply issues...

The GP-825 will have a similar air consumption to the Iwata Kustom HP-TH (same nozzle size & similar design). In fan pattern Iwata recommend a minimum compressor air flow rating of 1.2CFM (34 L/Min) for the HP-TH.

30 L/Min would probably suffice, more powerful standard airbrush compressor at 25 L/Min or thereabout will work fine in round pattern & if fitted with a tank may give short lived (5 seconds or thereabouts) fan pattern capability as the tank drains down, but you're then going to have to wait for tank recharge...... Smaller, lower air flow compressors are unfortunately pretty much out of the question for operating in fan pattern......

Do you want a fan pattern for wider coverage or some other reason? I would look toward a wide pattern round brush unless you have specific requirements on a fan. Getting a fan spray pattern requires a lot of air. Lots more than a small airbrush compressor will output.

The Iwata RG3 will most likely do the job nicely. An Iwata HP-TH or GSI Creos Procon PS290 are airbrush style guns but with triggers.
