How to make camouflage nets

I´m building Revell´s Marder 1A5 right now, the kit comes with two plastic parts which depict stored camouflage nets. They look aweful so i wanted to replace them.

Image

So i took some military gauze bandage and a mixture of tea and marjoram, as you can see they are both grinded. Make sure the particles have the right size, it shouldn´t be too fine.
Image

Then i mixed some water and wood glue together put the gauze bandage into it so its soaked with the glue.
Image

Next i put the soaked bandages on the tank.
Image

Finally i mixed the tea and marjoram with wood glue and water aswell and applied it on the netting.
Image

When dried up its solid and can be painted the way you want to.

I´m amazed how easy it was, i plan to build a modern tank with a camouflage netting all over it, i think it will look awesome!

Well knock me down with a feather. So simple but effective. Will certainly give that a go at some point!

Regards Dave.

That's fantastic.. I have some gauze right here... Now to raid the spice cupboard while the wife sleeps...
It's ok...I do it all the time haha.

A great tip Michael, I was doing something similar but I was never happy with the leaves. Yours look a lot better.
New recipe :)

When the model is finished you will see how it looks when painted up. The last picture i showed of the model looks a bit weird, actually it is much better.
