Circle Cutters

Post by Plopper »

Well I'm getting to the point with this plane;

http://intscalemodeller.com/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=9338

that I need Decals and have decided to do my own, only problem is, I have no idea how to cut them out, the square ones will be fine, but how the heck can I do the round ones? I have a circle/compass cutter, but it won't cut that small!

Does anybody know of an adjustable cutter/stamp that I can use to cut out 1cm roundels? Well for the future any sort of round decals/stickers as I plan to do more of my own decals for the Matchbox/Corgi cars I'm customising.

Don't know about circle cutters, but try using craft knife, like X-ACTO or similar?

Maybe a art shop circle template as a cutting guild, could also use it as a spray guide for wheels. You can also get punches that will cut circular holes, I believe they are leather work tools

Believe Yevgeny mate I've tried and tried many times with doing decals for Matchbox cars as they are ultra small, and they always look rubbish.

works like a charm
Yep, I have one of them and they work great, but unless you use the guard you end up with a hole in the middle of the thing your cutting. If you use the guard you can only cut things as big as the guard.

I think that it's like most things in the hobby, I'll have to use several different things for each type of cut and to that aim, I'm going to order quite a lot of what has been linked to test them out, several different templates, several different punches and a couple more compass cutters, they are so cheap, I may as well have some fun experimenting!

Seen these http://www.unitedtools.ie/products/12-P ... h-Set.html no idea about that site though. The punches seem to come up when googling hollow punches or leather punches. Seen the template in seasons here in Ireland so I'd say any stationary or art supplies place have them

don't buy these as they are indeed leather punches and have quiet a blunt cutting edge. useing on a decal or paper will just screw it up
